Reporting to the Head of Finance Operations, the Finance Assistant will be providing wide-ranging finance support for Thought Machine. This position will offer practical finance experience to run simultaneously with the professional accounting exams (ACCA or CIMA) which the company can support.

DUTIES

  • Manage staff expenses/process, management of supplier payments and other ad-hoc tasks when required.
  • Work alongside another Finance Assistant and Management Accountant
  • Prepare and post accounting journals
  • Act as a first point of contact to the business for finance queries
  • Invoice process and payments
  • Maintain sales and purchase ledger
  • Assist in completion of balance sheet items as well as bank reconciliations
  • Assist in preparation of the annual statutory accounts and inter-company billings
  • Help with tax related matters and VAT returns
  • Assist in payroll related administration including pension and benefits

Requirements

Essential

  • A graduate with an Accounting/Finance related degree OR Studying towards AAT or a professional qualification with at least 1 years experience working in a finance role
  • Willing to work towards the CIMA or ACCA formal qualification
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and people skills.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
  • Competent Excel user
  • Fluent spoken and written English

Desirable

  • Previous exposure to accounting software (Xero/Workday experience a plus)
